Tools and Research Resources
Ecocyc Encyclopedia of E. coli K12 Genes and Metabolism
 - An invaluable resource for anyone doing any sort of E. coli biology.  (I dearly love this site.)
Breseq Hompage
- Jeff Barrick's (UT Austin) wonderful genome analysis data pipeline, optimized for E. coli B.
E. coli Long-Term Evolution Experiment Genome Data Repository
- Site also includes tools for extensive genome and metagenome analysis of LTEE strains and populations
The Sequence Manipulation Suite
  - A great collection of tools for playing with DNA and protein sequences.

Education Resources
Evo-Ed
- A site that contains a collection of case studies that track evolution from the level of mutation up, games, and PowerPoint slides for use in teaching evolution.

Data Nuggets
- A great educational resource sponsored in part by the BEACON Center that provides an innovative way to bring genuine scientific inquiry, practice, and research and data into the classroom.

Fun Stuff
The Infamous "Lenski Affair"
- The now legendary email exchange between Richard Lenski and Andrew Schlafly that was prompted by my 2008 paper on historical contingency and the evolution of the Cit+ trait.

Dyed in Vermont
- I like bright colors, and I like my lab coats tie-dyed. This is where I get them. They do great, quality work.

ID Creationist's Don't Like My Work
- When I, colleagues, or others publish on the Cit+ story, it clearly rankles Intelligent Design Creationists like Michael Behe, and they have to weigh in. The results are pretty amusing, if a bit sad, if you know much about either the work or evolutionary biology:

Podcasts
I love podcasts, and have found them a wonderful resource on many levels. These are some that I think are worth looking into if you have interests in science, history, and philosophy.

Science
This Week in Microbiology - A weekly discussion of findings and matters related to microbiology, put out by the American Society for Microbiology.

This Week in Virology - Same as above, but for virology.

Stuff You Should Know - A general audience podcast on a variety of subjects, many of them them scientific.

Philosophy
Rationally Speaking - A general audience podcast by New York City Skeptics that delves into a variety of philosophical topics.

History
Given my research interests in historical contingency, it shouldn't be a surprise that I have an abiding interest in history, with an emphasis on ancient history...

The History of Rome Podcast - Now archived, this is a wonderful podcast series covering the history of Rome from its foundation as a kingdom to the fall of the Western Empire in 476.

The History of Byzantium Podcast - A continuation of the history of the Roman Empire, covering the survival of the Eastern Empire through 1453.
